"If we each did for one what we wish we could do for all, think of the difference we would see in the world. The ripples would be immeasurable. It's not your job to do everything, but it is your job to do something. Lean into it and don't look away."  ~ Jen Yates

What Can I Do To Help Empty Bowls Mon?

Empty Bowls is grateful for the community support we receive. We are often asked for ways to support our mission aside from standard monetary donations. Here are a few ideas of ways you can support Empty Bowls Monongalia and have fun at the same time:

  • Host a Mini Soup and Bread Dinner at your home. Gather a group of friends, serve soup and bread and discuss the meaning of the empty bowl as it relates to food insecurity. Collect donations after the meal to support Empty Bowls Monongalia.

  • Create a Facebook Fundraiser. This could be in honor of your birthday or another notable event. Set a donation goal and ask your Facebook friends to please support the mission of Empty Bowls. These are very easy to create.

  • Host a bowl painting party and donate the painted bowls to Empty Bowls.

  • Hold a Yard Sale. This can be done at your home or gather a group of friends to increase variety of items and visibility. Donate the proceeds to Empty Bowls Monongalia.

  • Organize a Walk, Run or Bike Race 5k with proceeds benefiting Empty Bowls.

  • Hold a Car Wash. This not only fun, but also a great team building activity for groups. These are perfect for Fraternities and Sororities!

  • Create a golf tournament.

  • Ask your favorite restaurant to host a “Dining Out” event, with a portion of the proceeds going to Empty Bowls.

  • Invite an Empty Bowls representative to speak to your civic group or place of worship.

  • Organize a benefit concert. This can be done in partnership with your favorite venue or tavern, etc.

These are just a few ideas to help you brainstorm various fundraising tools. If you choose to create a particular event, please let us know how we can assist you with publicity and volunteer participation!
